Zinnias are annual flowers that grow best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Taller varieties make excellent cut flowers and are also lovely for beds, borders, and mass plantings. Elegans Giant zinnias are especially prized for their bold flowers, sturdy stems, and long cutting window.

Growing information
Days to germination: 3-5 days at 27-29°C
Sowing:
Transplant (recommended): Sow into 72-cell trays or your preferred seedling container 4 weeks before planting out. Cover the seed. A heat mat will help maintain an accurate temperature. Lower temperatures will result in slower germination, usually 5-7 days at 21-24°C. Do not allow plants to become root bound and avoid disturbing the roots too much, as transplant shock or other stress can cause double-flowering varieties to produce single blooms for a period after stress.
Direct sow: Sow seed about 0.6 cm deep. Succession sow or plant every 2 weeks for prolonged yields of high-quality stems. Pinching the initial bud or bloom, followed by regular deadheading, is recommended to encourage strong branching and more flower production. Zinnias are very sensitive to frost.
