At Love Dahlias Namibia, we are excited to offer snapdragon seeds in Namibia for growers who want to build their own cut flower garden from seed. If you have been searching for cut flower seeds in Namibia, snapdragon seed Namibia, or flowers that are beautiful enough for home bouquets and useful enough to sell locally, snapdragons are a wonderful place to start.

Snapdragons, also known as Antirrhinum majus, are annual flowers that grow best in sun to part shade and in rich, moist, well-drained soil. They are excellent for the cut flower garden, and they are also considered an edible flower. Depending on how they are grown, stem length can vary widely, which makes them useful both for home gardens and flower production.

Growing information
Days to germination: 7-14 days at 21-24°C
Sowing:
Transplant (recommended): Surface-sow into 128-cell trays or your preferred seedling container 8-10 weeks before planting out. Light is required for germination, so cover only lightly, just enough to hold the seed in place. A fine layer of vermiculite can help hold moisture and reduce algae growth. Bottom water or mist lightly to avoid washing seed too deeply into the soil. Transplant into cell packs or larger containers when the first true leaves appear, about 3-4 weeks after sowing.
Pinching: Pinching is recommended if branching is desired. For a bushier plant with more flowering side branches, pinch young plants back by half their height when they have formed 4-6 leaves or are about 7-10 cm tall. Please note that pinching can delay flowering by a few weeks. If pinching, space plants 15-30 cm apart.
Direct sowing: Not recommended.
